2/10 No. Coast Ohio Chapter Update

Greetings from North Coast Pontiac Club. Our February meeting was on such a snowy evening; naturally everyone's thoughts were on Spring. Our club meteorologist, Jack Pinchot, announced that from today's meeting date there is just 32 days until spring. We are looking forward to the following club events: The Dust-Off on May 2nd, Poker Run on June 19th, NCPC Picnic on July 25th, and the All Pontiac Benefit Car Show on August 1st. This charity will benefit The Rett Syndrome Foundation. The featured car at the NCPC February meeting was Don Cermak's 1965 GTO. Don began his presentation by showing club members a picture of his '57 Chevy. Wait a minute Don - this is a Pontiac Club. Did his strategy work? Yes, Don got our full attention. Very clever Don! (By the way, he still owns that '57 Chevy show car.) In 1966, Don was looking for an automatic for his wife to drive. When hunting for a car at Lou Meliska's in Parma, OH (now Axelrod), there she was A little 1965 GTO, lookin' fine, 4-barrel, and a 389. He decided to turn it on, wind it up, blow it out, and buy that GTO. Don has all the literature to his 2-door hardtop. This beautiful Fontaine Blue car has original paint and interior. Because of the lack of traction in the snow, the GTO became a warm weather car. As time went on Don decided to add HO performance and stainless steel exhaust. He detailed the suspension and undercarriage and included radial tires. Don put in a 200 R4 and had it beefed up. The GTO also has a rally dash. All numbers are matching and Don has kept all the parts that came off the car during the changes. This Pon-Pon has plenty of style and driving her always puts a smile on Don's face. He has won trophies at Stan Hywet, Akron, OH, the BOP in Tallmadge, Ursuline College, and the annual car show at Gilmour Academy to name a few. With only 41,000 miles this beautiful, timeless, immaculate GTO is worthy of the impeccable care Don gives it. As Don sums it up, his 1965 GTO is really comfortable to drive on the road. It's truly a FUN car!
