GMC Truck Chapter - Update

GMC Truck Chapter - a.k.a. the GTC The January/February 2008 issue of the GMC Times featured the custom restored GM Futurliner that was offered for sale on eBay. One of twelve built, nine are known to exist with only four in running condition. The bus was bid to just over $1 million and did not meet the owners reserve. GTC treasurer Steve Cook just purchased a 1957 GMC Suburban with the 4 x 4 Napco conversion. We look forward to hearing more about the restoration efforts on this cool truck. We are making plans for our annual chapter meeting to be held at the Spearfish convention. New members Don and Mary Berringer from Ashland, Ohio and John VanderHaag from Sanborn, Iowa were welcomed. WE NEED NEW MEMBERS! GMC truck owners and enthusiasts are invited to request a free sample issue of the GMC Times newsletter. Contact: Paul Bergstrom, 1165 County Road 83, Independence, MN 55359; email pcpvnews@ties2.net or call evenings/weekends (763)479-2248. The November/December 2007 issue of the GMC Times featured Jim Atkinsons 1937 GMC Fire Truck with an American LaFrance pump and body. This GMC is one active rig, seeing parade and muster duty. Since purchasing the GMC in 1977, Jim has driven it approximately 51,000 (!) miles to over 280 shows, musters and parades and has been honored with over 275 trophies. I bet we dont have many Pontiacs/Oaklands that can make a claim that large! Jims next project is a 1936 GMC T-18 Fire Truck. We need to make 2008 a membership growth year, with the dues currently set at $10.00 per year this chapter is VALUE PACKED! We are hoping for lots of GMCs to join the Spearfish Escape. The September/October 2007 issue of the GMC Times featured Jim and Pat Downs 1966 GMC Suburban. The truck has been through many changes and is now actively seeing car/truck show duty nice job Jim and Pat! We learned about Cliff Shupings 1971 GMC Sprint, which he bought brand new and says was a keeper from the beginning. Readers were also treated to the story of Cannon ball Bakers 1927 record setting cross country run in a 1927 GMC model 40 truck. Also, photos were featured of Dick Ginthers 1946 GMC pickup and Bill Estes 1937 GMC 1/.2 ton pickup. Help us stage a GMC Invasion in Spearfish in 2008!
