January 2007

The car season is about to wind down as the winter and holiday time sets in. However the Piedmont Chapter again had the privilege to participate in the High Point Veterans Day Parade. Sunny skies and warm temps set the stage for a beautiful day to parade down Main Street of the Furniture Capital of the World. We had a good turn-out of cars and a broad number of years represented as the 13 Pontiacs lined up at the starting spot. After the parade the group headed to the Golden Corral to eat and then have a meeting with election of new officers for the upcoming year.

Another November event that is becoming a tradition with the club is the Turkey Tour to Porkys Restaurant in China Grove, NC. This is the Sunday after Thanksgiving when we travel back roads to avoid heavy holiday traffic and eat not turkey, but other items. The Turkey Tour is to celebrate too much turkey and (possibly) too much family! So it is a runaway from home for the afternoon with some friends. Several new faces and cars joined in the event this year as a group of 16 gathered at the restaurant.

A couple of larger car cruise ins are scheduling ongoing monthly happenings. The Spencer, NC Cruise In is starting earlier in the afternoon the second Saturday of each month and the Mooresville Cruise In is continuing its regular time each first Saturday of the month.

Anticipation for the car shoppers in the crowd are on hold until the Metrolina Show in Charlotte in January. Maybe some Santa helpers are on the look out for parts to load in a sleigh come December!
