LITTLE RHODY CHAPTER REVIEW AND NEWS UPDATE

LITTLE RHODY CHAPTER REVIEW AND NEWS UPDATE August, 2007 POCI CONVENTION REVIEW The convention in Tulsa was especially significant for Little Rhody because of the two awards that we won; the $200 for having the highest percentage of members voting in the Directors elections (for chapters with over 50 members) and the Chapter of the Year Award. It is the third time we have won each of these awards. As for the convention itself, except for one very hot day, the weather was very cooperative with very little rain and no floods. We were told that the threat of these did keep the registration a little below what was anticipated. By Tuesday, there were about 65 points cars and about 230 popular vote cars. The scheduled activities were both informative and interesting. As usual, the location of next years convention was announced. It will be in Spearfish, South Dakota. This is certainly one of the most scenic areas of the country with Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands. The host hotel will be the Holiday Inn and it has a limited number of rooms. OTHER ACTIVITIES Several members attended both the Endicott Estate show on July 8th and the inaugural Governors Show on July 15th. August has a few events, including the Yankee all GM show (8/5), and both the Eastern Regional in Saddlebrook, NJ and the Ames Performance Nationals in Norwalk, OH on the weekend of 8/10. Lastly, the summer picnic will be hosted by the Verdones on August 18th. Their home is on RT 100 in Pascoag. Follow RT 44 W through Chepachet and then take RT 100. Directly across from Lockheed Window there are three gravel driveways. Take the middle one.
