Lone Star Chapter Update

LONE STAR CHAPTER FIRST QUARTER NEWS UPDATE Here in Dallas we had an exciting kick off in 2010 with our annual "Christmas" party on January 9th at the Olive Garden. A fun gift exchange was held, club event plans were discussed, and we voted to begin offering lifetime chapter memberships. Winston McCollum became our first member to sign up for this privilege. Then a full slate of new officers was installed for the coming year: President Tom Brackett Vice-President Glen Balko Secretary Ross and Dorothy Clegg Treasurer Tom Giltner Communications/ Website Manager Winston McCollum On the last Saturday in January, several of our members braved the cold weather and attended the huge "Cars & Coffee" Show at Classic BMW in suburban Plano. It was a below normal turnout with only 300+ cars, but there was a live radio broadcast anyway. Nice weather brings out 500+ cars of all makes and models. It is held from dawn to 10am when this gracious dealer clears out his entire car storage lot for us. It is an amazing local event held every month and one of the few shows where you will find more Ferraris than Pontiacs. Go to www.carsandcoffe.com and check it out! On February 19-21st, we had five cars displayed in the 50th Annual Dallas Autorama. Our new stainless steel stanchions looked great protecting an impressive collection of Pontiac power. The photo below just doesn't do them justice-we definitely had the best club display at this show! Jim Deaton won the best interior award as well as 2nd place overall in the restored class with his gorgeous '66 Starlight Black GTO. Then on March 5-7th, we went across town to the big Ft. Worth Motorama Show to display another five knockout Pontiacs. It was the debut of Ken Smith's impressive black/red '69 Judge hardtop, and it sure sparked numerous appreciative comments from the crowd. Lone Star took home another trophy as Winston McCollum won the "Best GM" award with his '69 GTO convertible. With temperatures now rising and things starting to green up, we are really looking forward to the busy outdoor show season in North Texas and some refreshing top-down cruising. See you in Charleston for yet another great Pontiac gathering!
