Louisville Convention Road Warrior Cruise recap
POCI Convention Road Warrior Cruise
By Mark Kubancik

We had approximately 80 POCI members signed up to attend the Road Warrior Cruise this year. The Warriors traveled surface streets from the Crowne Plaza to Bardstown Road, then south into Bullitt and Nelson counties. Passing through Bardstown, the Warriors continued to their destination of the Kentucky Railway Museum in New Haven, KY. After perusing the displays at the museum, we boarded air-conditioned vintage train cars for the short ride to Log Still Distillery in nearby Gethsemane, KY.

Log Still rolled out the red carpet for our group, arranging for a full-size motor coach to transport our group from the train station to the Log Still event center. Once at the center, Warriors dined on a delicious BBQ buffet lunch including two meats, salads, sides, and dessert. Following a hearty lunch, Log Still’s owner, Wally Dant, shared a presentation with the Warriors that told the story of his family's history on the Log Still property that dates from the mid-1800’s. After the presentation, Wally invited anyone who wanted a sample to the tasting bar where several Warriors bought distilled products for their own consumption or as gifts for friends and family.

Once the train returned everyone to the Railway Museum, the Warriors retraced their route to return to the Crowne Plaza for the evening’s events.

A big Thank You to LPC members Tim Truax and George Fackler for their assistance with the tour. Tim drove his ’60 Ventura as the lead car on the tour and George trailed the caravan in his modern car with an assortment of tools, just in case.
