North Coast Ohio Chapter 6/11 Update

NORTH COAST PONTIAC CHAPTER (OHIO) The featured car for the month of June was Mark Tilsons 1970 GTO. One day surfing ads on E-Bay, Mark came across a 1970 GTO for sale. Always liking convertibles he was intrigued. The car was from Toledo, so Mark quickly set up a time to see her. The Ponchos home was in a warehouse. She was sitting next to a large boat and looked so small in comparison, however, Marks eyes were drawn to a very stunning sight. She was a Baja Gold Metallic beauty. After more research Mark realized she was a treasure. In 1970 there were notable changes in the GTO. The Endura front bumper and the rear bumper were redesigned. Mark was drawn to this style. Out of 40,149 GTOs/Judges produced in 1970, only 3,615 were convertibles. This particular Goat had several great features, one, which was a 400-cid motor. WOW! In 1970, the GTO with the 400 cid 366hp. V-8 was capable of 0-60 in 6 seconds and 14.6 seconds in the quarter mile. To help purchase this 70 Poncho Mark sold the Grand Prix that he was currently driving. Mark knew the GTO was a rare find. The engine was detailed and the Goat now has air conditioning. Other highlights are Formula steering wheel, power steering, hood tachometer, trunk release, and Rally II Wheels. She boasts Sandalwood interior. This convertible GTO now has approximately 94,000 miles. The praise and awards the 70 has won gives Mark reason to be proud. Our Second Annual Poker Run was on June 11th . A big THANK YOU to Tom and Regina Moritz for planning this wonderful activity. After cruising, the event ended with lunch at Ferrante Winery and Ristorante Geneva, OH Tom presented certificates to participants, helpers, and winners. Everyone who attended had a great time.
