November, 2006
Fall has been a busy time for members of the Arch Chapter. September brought us several events, the first being the Trail of Tears Rendezvous. This all Pontiac event was held in Sikeston, MO, just about a 2-hour drive south of St. Louis.
Two members had their cars in the car show, both bringing home a 1st place trophy, and 2 members brought out their drag cars for the drag event. It was a lovely early fall day and a success for a first time event.
After the car show we were able to move our cars over to the drag area and all members sat together for the remainder of the day. Our next event was a dealer display at Wagner Buick-Pontiac in Belleville, Illinois. Again we had perfect weather and the Pontiacs outnumbered the Buicks for the 2nd year in a row. The folks at Wagner fed us lunch and gave away some nice attendance prizes.
The next day was our annual picnic, and well, the weather didn’t quite cooperate, it rained and rained and rained some more. Despite the rain, we were under cover and even though not many people turned out we had a good time with lots of good food and conversation.
October will bring our annual Wine/Fall Colors Run. This year we will be visiting the Villa Antonio Winery in Hillsboro, MO. This is always a well attended event and we are hoping the weather will once again cooperate. This is usually the last event we can count on to bring out the show cars, November can sometimes be a challenge in the St. Louis area and we usually don’t see these cars until March or April.
November will be a dinner meeting and December will be our Christmas Party to close out the year. This is an election year and the new officers will be announced at the Christmas Party.
